Weight Gain and Allergies |

Allergic
symptoms often develop from overexposure
to the same food over a long period
of time, and thus many overweight patients
show increased hypersensitivity to
foods. These sensitivities can result
in a reduced ability to metabolize
fats and make you bloated. |
According to a classic work by a leading expert on allergies, an
allergic reaction to food may cause the body to retain as much
as 4 percent of its body weight in edema fluid (water fluid).1 Thus
a sudden weight gain, possibly signalled by such signs as increased
thirst and swelling of feet and hands (i.e. "tight rings"
or "tight shoes"), can be an important indicator of a
hidden food allergy.
